Porto’s Chocolate Museum pairs cocoa history with a working factory visit and tastings, using a self-guided audio tour in English.

“This museum has fabulous interactive exhibits and just enough text to hold my interest but not overwhelm. I learned so much about the origins, growing, processing and final production of chocolate! The bonus was three sample stations with a docent to describe what I was trying. The gift shop has very reasonable prices for fantastic quality chocolate! The cafe has amazing chairs. Overall a fantastic experience. We combined with the cork museum and were so happy! Visit today!”

“Be prepared to eat a lot. This tour starts with a typical Porto breakfast consisting of coffee with a pastry (Jesuita). After that we kept walking and reached the farmers market where we had a snack consisting of bacalao (codfish), cavala and sardines with bread, chorizos and hams and wines. We kept walking and had lunch at Santiago where we had the traditional franceschina. Our tour guide Maria is a chef and a wine expert and as so took us to eat and drink the best of Porto. Mari we will be back!”
